Normally a bug wouldnt make me stop playing. I even didn't care when the vodyani had the quest bug where that planet could never be reached. I shoved it off and kept playing.
But this one bug INFURIATES ME. The most infuriating part of it is that no one else is reporting it yet I can't get rid of it no matter how many reinstalls, pure purges, file editing, etc. Nothing will break this stupid bug.
All the minors have their 50 pop bonus but all the majors don't. Why? I don't know but I can't even bring myself to starting a game while this bug exists.
Well, in my Vodyani game, I also don't see any pop up at 50, but I don't have 50 Vodyani to confirm.
I can say that I seem to get notifications of new pop bonuses based on pop * planet slots rather than pop. That is, if I have 5 vodyani spread across 2 worlds, it seems to trigger the "You have a new pop bonus!" notification for 10, when I actually have 5, but I can't confirm that yet, just a feeling I have (I know for sure that I'll check my actual population numbers when I receive this notification and it shows my population as too small to get this bonus)
I made an extensive bug report on this, there is more going on with faction bonus/ traits. It has been posted by someone else
before me, but he/ she did not fill in a complete report. The 50 population is only the most visual indicator that things are not working properly. For a lot of people this issue does not not occur or does not happen visually for them to notice.
Unfortunately the report is pushed to page 4/5 due to the many early game (no launch) reports and very visual early game errors such as no hyperium mining and planet colonization issues (which easily have 8 or more threads) It seems that faction traits both minor and major also do not correctly apply. Assimilating a faction that gives a bonus towards systems, population or other non global units seems to only apply these to the currently existing units/ entities. Thus new colonies, new population and probably also new military units for example do not benefit.
To notice this you really have to go through the numbers and find out they do not add up. Long and big games will make it more noticeable. Having a big liking for Horatio which due to gene splicing behaves different each game, these issues become far more visible. Yet only on new units, so at 1st glance you get all the bonus and changes you wanted. It truly is a mess of visually missing items or visually present items that do not actually apply. If my horatio get +6 (+4 & +2hot) approval per population it seems fine, but than you notice the missing bonus on your new systems who stay at content and suddenly your empire is no longer esctatic.
We can't judge balance because some of the core mechanics of the game are now not working correctly, it is unfortunate so few seem to realize and notice. I see posts about balance coming up more than the fact things are not currently working correctly.
