Are there plans to show what happens to the galaxy following the Academy quests in further expansions? If so, or even not, can I get some more understanding of what exactly happens?

I cannot tell if Iskander is saying the entire galaxy must die, just the Vodyani, or Dust-affected individuals of all races.

It's weekend and devs regularly are at home on weekend. They have families... So don't expect an answer before monday.

Well, I was also hoping for player input here too. Do any devs have clarification? Is Iskander meaning the whole galaxy dies or not?

The Pathfinder trailer answers this pretty well if you combine it with the in-game events.

"But if I told you I found a way to start over. To restore it's [Dust's] perfection. To cleanse our sins. The only cost would be to reset. To erase the billions of corrupted souls in the galaxy. Will you follow me?"

Then we see Isyander beckoning Kinete and Brunem to join him in this grand plan. Brunem sees things as Isyander and joins him whereas Kinete rejects his scheme and decides to fight back. At least that's how I see it.

So yeah, everything dies. It's a galaxy-wide genocide for the "greater good". The good is controversial however as there's really no guarantee that Isyander's plan works as he thinks or if he's even sane! Vodyani for one sure don't agree with him. Haven't played through the finale on both sides yet so there's still more exploring to do but the core plot seems clear.

I just don't know if it is the death of dust infused specimens, or everyone, since the Academy ending is shown prior to the specific species victory. I also don't know anyone who would join Iskander to kill everything. Even if I agree that what the Endless did was wrong, why would I kill my whole family and species that aren't in any way related to the Endless or the Lost. If it was killing those that have enhanced abilities from Dust, ie the Pathfinders, I can see how they could make that call, since they are only killing themselves.

Strange question, but sort of related to, but how do you get the questline that leads to the Rejuvenator/Defender quests?

The Academy quest barely kills anyone at all, if you read the victory cut scene dialogue most races are powerful enough to not care or even challenge the L, they are very much still alive. The Pathfinder trailer doesn't really reflect the actual story at all, the Sophon/Vodyani's vision trailers are more accurate.

You must:

I. Find the Academy.

II. Protect the Academy from the Vodyani separatists.

Then the quest will proc sometime later.

throwing my few cents here

poking around the game files i found out that each faction has 2 different ending subtittles depending on the outcome of that quest, so the universe doesnt get genocided (at least not immediately) but that just makes me question whats the point then. i hope this is just the beggining of the quest victory (defeat the lost permanently or help the lost reach their goal while fighting the oppsing team)

Means I'm gonna have to play each race twice then huh.

Hard to say. Only Amplitude's lorewriters know the exact answer. "Billions of corrupted souls" could mean just the people who are dealing with Dust in one way or other, or it might mean larger scale destruction to make sure things begin on a clean slate. Collateral damage, if you will. Billions of lives matter little to him as he sees that the Dust corruption is ultimately a bigger problem.

Dust sure can do a lot of stuff for good or bad. Ardent Mages in EL are a good example about how you can really go nuts with it. The guys were cutting themselves open for the sake of power. Wasn't there some line like "remove your eyes in atonement" in their opening cutscene? That's pretty rough.

But, it could indeed also mean that only beings who directly meddle with Dust would be on the eradication list. It's entirely possible that people who never dealt with Dust would be spared as they're "pure" in a sense. It depends what the actual reset process entails. Could make interesting storytelling too, if non-Dust infused beings were to be spared in some way from Isyanders cataclysm.

I worded myself a bit badly earlier. Not that everything actually dies, but that's what Isyander is aiming for. His grand plan is to erase everything in order for something better to follow. Can't make an omelette without breaking eggs. Sure enough, at least UE and Lumeri (if I recall) end scenes tell in a straightforward manner that they're victorious over all obstacles. That'd just mean that Isyander's plan didn't work out as he wanted.

That's interesting! I definitely want to explore those outcomes. Even with Isyander's delusions of grandeur presumeably failing, it still makes an interesting story. And it can, indeed be expanded further. We don't know what the actual purification process would entail, beyond the summoning of Lost. What would he/it do? Devour everything related to Dust? Purify Dust in some cosmic fire? Drain it away, replacing it with pure Dust? In any case, the hosts would suffer, but that's pretty much it.

In addition, we don't know if there's any unforseen consequences from the events. Calling forth an eldritch power to wipe out the galaxy doesn't seem like a little thing. Who knows what else stirs in the universe? Definitely a possible foundation for Quest victory.
