ENDLESS™ Space 2 is turn-based 4X space-strategy that launches players into the space colonization age of different civilizations within the ENDLESS™ Universe. Your Vision. Their Future.
I like playing them, but their advanced Singularities seem quite underpowered for the advanced tech and cost. One of them basically lets you build a ship for free each turn (at least thats about the only thing I can figure out that doesn't fall under the extensive list of exclusions). The other lets you watch old battles????? WTF. And its not even clear how to do that. I have made these a few times and never found out where the "old battle" button lies. Not sure how the movement thing works either, as I am always so far ahead in the game (impossible level) that I haven't wasted time playing with fleet movement in and out of a system with the advanced singularity.
Hopefully once they squash all the bugs they can get the AI up to snuff.
I don't get their (Chapter 4 I think?) storyline quest where you need 4 systems at 30% Ecologist. Seems out of nowhere when everything else has been industry. :(.

Agreed, especially when your starting pop is remnant which is Anti-ecologist, which makes it hard to generate votes.
In EA they had a different starting pop but i dont recall if it was pro or against eco. If it was pro, then this quest would make more sense or atleast be easier to do.

Thy had Epistis which were pro-Eco, hence the confusion.

"One of them basically lets you build a ship for free each turn"
If you mean the fold singularity, it does not do that either. It's utility is extremely limited from what I saw when I tested it. Perhaps someone else has had better luck with it. The refilling of movement points is nice and all, but the 'top building in queue' thing is quite underwhelming.
For clarity's sake this is what mine did in my game: If i had the singularity on a planet then I got the benefits of the top building in the queue from the next turn - but the building itself didn't 'complete' in that turn. For instance, a 5 turn building that gives +20 production means I would have +20 production in the next turn, but would still need to wait 5 turns for the actual building to complete.
Not as awesome as I had hoped. I really, really wished it would autocomplete ships in a turn :) that would be awesome. It's a pretty late game unlock anyway so I don't think it's game breaking.

God bless you for this clarification, I thought Fold singularity had the effect of completing buildings in 1 turn, and was frustrated back in the days to see it was 'bugged' lol. I have to agree that indeed these singularities are very underwhelming: for example, personally I don't see how replaying battles is a help to a player, you either can win the battle, or you can't (with minor deviations ofc).
Also, why don't we have 2 singularities instead of one as the last tier (paying 15k dust + quadrinix + ori seems like high price for freezing one enemy system), I wish we had a beneficial singularity for tier 3 resource.
One more thing which troubles me is that the number of available singularities doesn't scale at all with size of the galaxy. Having 3 singularities on small galaxy has much bigger impact than same number on huge galaxy. I don't even care if enemy Riftborn places negative singularity on one of my systems if I have 10+ of those, the impact of that action is close to zero. Same goes for playing Riftborn, what the point of placing 3 Compression singularities on 3 of my systems if I have 10+ of them? I mean +25% is good and all, but let's do some calculations: I had 10 systems with 100%, now i have 7 with 100% and 3 with 125%, so the average goes (3*125 + 7*100)/10 = 107.5%, entire affinity effect is worth for 7.5% increase in FIDSI? I say this is close to nothing compared to other races.
Ofc, this is only my opinion and probably I may miss some point, but for me Riftborn feel somewhat underwhelming.
Personally, I love the Riftborn. I was kinda skeptical about the Singularities at first myself, but I use them a lot now. They're really not that expensive when you consider you're guaranteed a planet with the starting Strategic resources, even if you have to research one of the techs manually (maybe two turns?). Usually, by the time I get around to the techs that let me buy out my construction queue or use the market, I've got plenty of Dust, too.
I mean, if I'm not wrong, Riftborn can colonize Lava planets off the bat. It's a -20 to approval, but that doesn't mean much since Lava planets are sterile and therefore give you that 20 approval back. And it's not like the lack of food will really hurt. I tend to find a decent number of systems with two or more lava planets. Drop a singularity on that and enjoy swimming in your rediculous industry. You want one ship a turn? How about 5? 8? 12? Well, okay, 12 was the total number; the singularity was only getting me an extra 3, with some spare.
Also, do you really expand any faster on a larger map? I usually play on the larger ones myself, but I think I expand at about the same rate on smaller maps. Even late game, when I've got more systems than I know what to do with, I still love my singularities. By that time you should have a good industry system to dump one on for the extra ships. Hell, I had luck one game settling on a system unlinked by the constellation. Had two lava planets and it was really close to the enemy. In no time it was vomiting ships in the enemy's face. My hero was getting multiple levels a turn. He made it up to at least 24.
I can see where other people might not like them so much, but they suit me just fine.
For fun in my last riftborn game I decide to go "pure Riftborn".
Chain Gangs would always take out other races first, so I was able to "purify" my empire. Had nothing but riftborn the entire game. It is not optimal by any stretch as you lose the sweet pop bonuses for growing other races, but it was sastifying to true them that way.
