I find the Official backing system in the elections UI confusing.  I have no idea if I'm throwing support to a group or not. 

I understand the click the group you want.   But I don't know if I'm supposed to click the backing button to turn backing ON or OFF.   There is nothing that says which is which. 

What is worse is, with the surprise results in elections, I haven't been able to determine which is which by trying it either way.

This UI element needs to be clarified much better. 

I had this confusion at first too. Pretty easy to solve too on the developer side, all you need to do is just add a checkmark for when it's active. I also think a checkmark would make the option feel oddly more satisfying too.

It's ON if it's blue. It's pretty weak though, barely affects anything.

I think it is ON if it is blue too, but I am honestly not sure (despite +100hrs in game.. :-/ ).

I think it's on by default and it's light blue like the others said.

I think it would be best if the Devs just change the color to green instead, that would be more intuitive for new players.

Good thread... I had the exact same question and just assumed that the default selection was "support".  I guessed correctly!
