Deleted game when notified that AI faction about to win. Was that a little hasty?

So, I'm playing as the United Empire, turn 128 or something, neck and neck with the Cravers (who I am clobbering in war, as the dumb bugs don't realize that if the use all missiles I can simply go in at close range and roflpwn them) for the highest score....

Things are going swimmingly, when all of a sudden, I receive a notification one turn that the Lumeris  are close to winning an economic victory.

This was not supposed to happen. The glorious United Empire is not supposed to lose. Ever.

Flustered and upset by even the notion of losing this game after putting a lot of time into it, I impulsively delete it, start the tutorial out of self pity before realizing that was overboard, and then decided that from here on out I would bump myself down from "serious" difficulty to "hard" or lower.

... Is it possible that I overreacted a little? Sometimes I have emotional regulation issues, and I can get extremely picky about starting location when beginning a new game.

The economic victory is generally agreed upon by the community as being waaaaaaaaaay too easy to achieve right now. 128 turns should not be where a fully fleshed out multi-empire FFA game should end.

No shame in disabling it.

I get how you feel buddy. No worries; you can be doing absolutely awesome, but the current flaws of the Economic victory still mean that unless you instantly wipe out the Lumeris, they'll win that way.

Disable it, then go forth and rock. You can probably bump back up to Serious too.

Just to mention there are three notifications for economic victory before the final victory, so maybe you still had about 30 to 50 turns before losing to it.

I do wish they gave numbers with those notifications. It's vague enough you can't tell if they're halfway there or 90% of the way there.
