IIRC in some other thread a dev talked about Craver quest and how they couldn't change their pop stats in the Religion path since an earlier step doesn't announce the later surprise change to Wasps (unlike UE quest choice that tells you upfront). My bet is they're likely going to a be a reskin akin to Mezari in EL: currently you can activate "Cravers Prime" ship reskin in-game, but it doesn't have other changes at the moment so I'm assuming they're also adding pop screen image as well.

Lore wise I think they're supposed to be Wasps (fully mechanical Cravers) that the Virtuals convert Cravers to if you choose the Religious path in Craver faction quest. They look exactly the same as they do in Craver specific victory video where they've converted to mechanical forms. Pic related.

What interests me the most is the question if the Cravers HAVE TO submit in order to become Cravers Prime.As far as I could tell from the Quest the Technology for the Cravers Prime is in the Endless Facility itself, thus the Cravers could have killed the Endless and than took the Updates anyways.

Well as along as Amplitude doesn't say something official we cannot be sure right?

I think the implication is that the Endless Factory is so advanced that ONLY the virtuals can control its max potential. Though I sure do wish that they would at least do a mezari situation in EL and have them as a reskin or even a drop down option for cravers.

I have the craver prime skin and yes it is just a reskin, I have asked about the craver prime hero in another thread I created and so far got no answer. I haven't encountered him/her ingame so I dont think there is a Craver Prime hero currently.

When does 1.0.16 appear? I cannot install it via "Steam Beta" so it doesn't seem to be open for everyone.

The Hero is nice, can't wait to see it in the roster

Regarding Lore conflict it should be simple enough to designate the Prime branch of the Crawers as pre-Wasp state that is closer to Wasp then "normal" Craver

If that doesn't work, the quest text can be changed so that the Primes are already Wasps and they are simply put to the test by the Virtual endless (or they rebel) - the inconsistency could occur if they rebel and in hte outro they do not look like full mechnic beings (which they are in this case already to begin with), but have not seen the rebel ending yet so can't tell whats down that line

But seeing the pops like this would be definitively welcome :)

When I watch the endings it seems like wether you join the Academy or fight it the outcome is almost the same. 

If the Craver fight the Academy the Outro states that the Cravers, and that are the "Wasp" Cravers, that they don't need any Gods or Creators interfeering them.

I haven't got a Pro Academy Outro but I assume that the Cravers are fighting the Endless anyways because the Lost and Endless are Archenemys. So It doesn't matter where to go, Amplitude seemed to make the Wasp Craver a Free Faction free from the Endless.
