I really want to get involved and make a name for myself in this community, what would be a good way to do that. I would like to mod, but I don't have any experience do that what so ever, and I wouldn't know what to mod, nor how to do it. I'd like to try to give ideas, but I don't have any groundbreaking things to share (hopefully yet). What's a good way for someone who's only played the game for 10 days to get involved? Thanks!

Just play around with XML files, making changes to see what happens - a hands on approach is the best way to learn! :)

And ideas will come as you play and find things you could add, would like to see etc.

Good luck!

We'll be showcasing some example mods later this week as well, so keep an eye out!

I have 2 mods right now, the first was a simple thing to mess around and see the shape of the galaxies with different mods. It changes 1 number in 1 file from 0 to 600. Nothing special not that many people using it.

My second mod is quite popular, top 5 on the workshop. Still doesn't add anything new, changes 2 dozen numbers. No way I could have made it without making the first mod.

I had never done a mod for any other game. As Kynrael says just start messing with stuff, make a mod that does ONE change that you can load up in game, it doesn't have to be fancy but once that works you will see how much you can do and how easily and the next one just might be the difference you want to make.

Yeah, if you mess your xml files you can always go to check files integrity on the properties of the game in the steam library! All the modificable files are on /public on the game folder.
