Exploitation of strategic ressources and... luck

Hey,


I've had several problem with the exploitation of strategic ressources during my games especially with Titanium. I noticed that I didn't have a direct access to titanium on a significant number of my games. I have the bad feeling that the game could be broken just because you don't have enough luck at the start. I know that I can partially avoid the problem with diplomaty and market... but just partially. When the market stocks are empty (or too expensive to be provisioned), I have the impression that it's done for me.


How do you manage this kind of situation ?

If you want to guarantee access to titanium then you can create a custom faction with the trait "Titanium Mine" which will spawn a small titanium source on your starting planet.


But even if you don't have any access to titanium it’s not a major issue in most cases. I think there are a total of 10 star system improvements that require it but most (if not all) are unique buildings. The Main way titanium is spent is on infantry upgrades, ship hulls and modules.

Not getting the infantry upgrades is not the best but as long as you avoid ground combat you will be unaffected.


If you don't have the resources for special ship hulls (and or slots) or modules then just focus on using and researching the plain modules and use less expensive ship hulls.

It may not be ideal but it should not hinder you too much.


The biggest bottleneck in not having the luxury resources to make system modernizations. There is not as much dependence on strategic resources.

You can also always change the spawn rate of resources. Personally, I like abundant galaxies.

Thanks for your answers. 


I restarted (again) a new game and I found everything I need in order to be competitive in the hard mode. The morophology of the match is completely different. I ask myself if it could be possible for Amplitude to guarantee one or two strategic ressources in everygames for everyplayers while maintining the random aspect.

Hard to not be able to use mods that require Titanium or Hyperium. I will try a game without both when I will be more confortable... :)
