Vodyani Hero OP?

Thats right, they have an ability that greatly increases planet's FIDS which will overpower any other faction.

Even if the title sound very clickbaity, I have to opine and agree.


It's not overpowered, it's freaking in-sa-ne.


Let's take a level 12 hero (when it's unlocked if I remember correctly) living on a 4 planet system with 28 population (I was thinking of vodyani system when I'm writing this, a 7pop * 4 planet system isn't unrealistic by the early mid-game when that ability would unlock).


The closest ability i could find with that ammount of impact was the guardian +80% industry, (for 2 points mind you), that'll grant on a 1k industry system 800 industry, real good right ?


The vodyani hero if he's senator (not unrealistic especially for vodyani players starting hero), will grant 28*(4+1 because senator)*12(level) = 1440industry, 1440food, 1440dust, 1440 science, 1440 influence (yuuuuup), to the system. 7200 fidsi.


What about later in the game at level 20 ? 2400 for each unit for 12000 fidsi.


I tried finding a tier 4 ability that good in racial tree, most tree i would find even endless tree don't have a tier 4 fidsi enhancer. Best I could find was a 4 industry / food / influence a pop (no per level) for unfallen and eusocial. and some other bonus are like "40 science + 40 per anomaly/cold planet" that's like on a 4 planet system with ideally 1 anomaly per system, a grand total of 200 science, hurray. 


Bottom line, it's broken.


Suggestion on how to fix it : remove the level modifier (it's still insanely good, but only insane because it's a fidsi modifier not a single resource), maybe make it 1 fidsi a pop and remove the senate bonus.

They stated is a bug because didn't changed the per hero level multiplier.


At current state is a game-breaking skill, no less.


Seems balance isn't a priority at all because they didn't fixed it on the latest patch.

You wouldn't happen to have a link to where they stated that would you?


It's quite easy to fix it's in SimulationDescriptor[Hero Skills] Hero Skill 105.  Would be great to know Amlitudes intentions.

The games file actually has two versions of the ability one which is fidsi x pop x hero level which works but is completely unbalanced and another which is a fidsi percentage bonus which is superceded by the aforementioned version.

I got the percentage bonus to work, fully tested by changing things a bit.  Replace the hero skill105 entry with this in:  SimulationDescriptors[HeroSkill]

It's no where near as good/broken but still gives hundreds sometimes thousands of extra fidsi and might be what Amplitude intended???

I can name a similar skill, from the Riftborn, +4/+8 on 1st/2nd rank respectivly per hero level per pop to science i'm nearly certain i've seen variants on that for other heroes.


The problem isn;t the fact tha it's flat per pop per hero level bonus. It's that it's a bonus of that type empire wide on senate and that on the system level it's a massive +4 of each resource, thats theoreticlly the equivlent of +20 to a single resource, it's several times too good. Myself i've modded it down to a flat +4 per pop on the senate level and +1 per hero pevel pr pop on the system level. That should keep it relevant in systems without a lot of any one resource coming in without being utterly obcene overall.
