What are your most crazy theories about the Endless series? They don´t need to be canon, they don´t even need to be based on published information. It´s just for fun and to see how can our imagination can go wild in that exotic universe. Here are some of mine (beware, many SPOILERS from the games):

1) The Grey Owl survivors became the Nydia

Some Hissho survivors took the Grey Owl on a crazy scape plan. Their log indicates that they reached Auriga and no further information is provided. The Grey Owl was also attacked by the local defense sattelite system that took Success down. There were some few surrvivors, and they developed throught the ages to become the Nydia faction.

2) The Unspoken from the Cultists is a Lost creature

According to the Unfallen quest the Unfallen discover that the Heart is tied to Koyasil and it is a being that precedes the Endless (possibly a Lost) and speak to them. The Unspoken can be seen in the same vein. He also speaks to its cultists and followers in Auriga. But he seems more insane, driving people mad. It also makes sense that the Unspoken is a Lost. The Endless and Lost are enemies, that´s why he managed to manipute the Cultists, drive them mad and make them willing to destroy anything related to the Endless.

3) The Sisters of Mercy have a male embassador who made contact with every tribe and minor faction of Auriga

If you pay attention to the art of Endless Legend Minor Faction quests you will see the same character over and over in different situations. A bearded man in Renaissance clothing. He wears the same stripes that are used by the Sisters of Mercy. I can only assume that although they are small in numbers, the Sisters are willing to explore Auriga to the fullest, and they sent their best ambassador to travel around.

Why is "Brother of Mercy" not available at the Academy? Well, he is loyal to the Sisters, and the Sisters only.

4) Altar of Auriga is a Lost technology

Here is our "Brother of Mercy" again, at the "Age of Heroes", visiting some ruins. The old building in the background is an old piramid. The only other piramid in the game is the Altar of Auriga.

Altar of Auriga description: "It is a center of ancient power from the times even before the Endless"

So their technology might come from the Lost. It has become a building of immense power, tied to prayers and religion. Witch other piramidal building has a similar concept?

Right, the Academy. It is tied to the Heretic religious quest of reviving the Lost. He is using their technology (and architecture) to bring them back.

If Allayi are so tied to that piece of Lost technology it makes sense why the Endless hit them so hard.

5) Dust is a server of connected virtual consciences

Zor Abaz and the Ardent Mages virtualized themselves through pain and dust. The Virtual Endless virtualized themselves though Dust. Dust is like a port to an entire connected and uncentralized server where you can upload your mind. Also, anyone that comes in contact with lots of Dust can be overloaded with all the sentient beings uploaded on the "Dust server". This normally kills the person. But some lucky ones get enhanced counciousness. Non-sentient beings can also gain sentience.

6) Opbot is a Serial Killer

Yes, that robot is not that innocent. According to the Internet of Things, machines can now talk to each other pretty easily. So Opbot probably had the power of controlling machinery and computers. He could have sensed the defense satelite in Auriga and made it go crazy. A risky attempt at liberty, but it was either liberty or death... He survived the crash and stayed with the Vaulters until he could not control his killing desires on his surgeon job and killed some of them. He wakes up again at the start of Endless Legend, still on a secret killing spree. He connects to the Endless labs under Auriga and launches a secret freezing program. They all manage to scape the Grey Owl... Well, until he manages to make another accident happen, making it explode. Somehow he managed to survive and might have found the Academy (if he is released on a DLC). This nihilist piece of hiperium can will certainly help the Heretic on his quest to CTRL ALT DEL everything.

I don't know if Auriga is a Lost One or not.... I suspect she/he/it might be, but I won't put my hand in the fire just yet.

Teonha on the other hand, I'm 90% sure isn't one. The lore fluff given to us so far indicates no correlation with Dust, it's just a planetary conciousness/hive mind/organic supercomputer that formed naturally over millions of years.

Also I suspect that if Auriga is indeed a Lost One, then the Allayi were created (like the Unfallen) to be its guardians/children/custodians.

Wait a minute... you're bearded too!

Unfortunately I am neither brown-haired nor the possessor of a beautiful mane (not anymore, at any rate).

3) The Sisters of Mercy have a male embassador who made contact with every tribe and minor faction of Auriga

Well, that isn't really official canon. We made the decision with the artists that for the non-faction-specific illustrations that everyone in the game would see, we would just use a sort of generic medieval guy to show what the concept was.

So while it isn't official canon, I have to say that I do really like your interpretation :)

I think it would pretty darn cool to  see an RPG (think King's Quest) with this as the backdrop.  The  potential for showing different locations, culture interaction, and  scenario solving would be, well.... Endless.

Here is mine.

The endless after witnessing the carnage brought by the cravers decided to sent a galaxy wide signal, which made them come to the world of husk ( and maybe other specialized planets since im sure the craver numbers were so large that a single planet wouldnt ve been enough).

After having the cravers reunited they  bombed the craver planet or planets and reducing them into a pool of slag .(this based on the massive country sized craters found on husk which could only be caused by impacts that would make the KT incident puny in comparission).

All of the cravers died ALL of them except maybe just maybe one frozen queen in stasis hidden from the virtual ship batteries, the endless died in their war and some of them devolved into the amoeba  then after millions of years the planet cooled down, maybe from terraformation or maybe due  comet impacts and then thanks to  luck or something else the frozen queen crashed on the planet waking from her stasis and starting the cravers again.

Now this theory explains

1. how the cravers survived a bombardment so powerful

2. Why they lack super advanced endless tech

3. Why it took them so long to get back into the stars.

4. Why they start small with one planet

5. how long have passed since the endless demise which is consistent with their devolution into amoeba ( evolution is a slow mistress even smaller changes take hundreds of thousands of years and this is consistent with the planet cooling off which should probably take a similar amount of time) .

Congratulations to all the artists. And to the Art Book as free DLC. The UI and art direction (and music) make it all a great experience.
