I can, you are right about (is there a way to not leave game screen for to use steam chat ?), but only possible if you are friends as long as I know. I would prefer ingame chat, like it was available in Endless Legend.

Nope, I was posting in steam discussions and here in official forum since days of Endless Legend. One day vip rank was offered from devs. I was really surprised, like other vips, too, as long as I know.

As far as I know all chat is public but as for advanced features you can colour text by writing #HexCode# (E.g. #8c0315# for dark red) and display symbols or endless text with []'s (e.g. [f] display the endless text for f & [horatio] displays the horatio icon) These work anywhere you can write text.

You are ever so quick to assume, it is mainly given to those that are very active within the community (just having one game brought would be fine if your active enough), for example I'm the one of the newest VIP's and I made on average 70+ posts a month since launch including some mega posts of feedback on the G2G Balance mod thread.
I also run The ITER Thread and help others with modding on the forums here & on the community discord, And since become a VIP I started a rather ambitious mod the Community Mod Project.
So if you wish to be become a VIP you must be quite active with the community but not in the expectation that it get you the VIP role (I don't think we fully know how the Devs pick VIPs)
