What do you think of the Academy from a meta/lore perspective? Do you think it is realistic?

From a meta point of view the Academy trains heroes that can work for any faction. It works like a mercenary business. Except that these heroes come for free (and a small upkeep cost) and the Academy is hidden at the start of the game.

But from a realistic point of view, it seems weird that no faction, no matter how powerful it is, can´t achieve complete control of it, having the monopoly of all heroes trained there and blocking the travel of heroes to enemy factions.

Another matter is that since heroes come from the Academy, it seems weird that they wouldn´t tell their new bosses where the Academy is... Horatio, Emperor Zelevas and other emperors trust these heroes to govern an entire system or fleet and yet these heroes won´t even tell them where they come from.

I understand it works that way for gameplay reasons, but it seems a bit weird from the meta perspective...

I think that this could be something that could be added as a function in an upcoming update/DLC.

Maybe using influence to affect the recruitment of new heroes or maybe crippling already hired heroes using the academy.

But I do think that the role of the academy should be added more depth.
