I like the way a couple of the battle cards have been linked to tech discovery.
I once again find myself only using two battle cards (no matter how many are available because they just seem to be the best); and they happen to be two that we start with.
I think more of the battle cards should be linked to tech discovery.
Some of the battle cards I just would never play --> their text would better off being served as modules for support ships (ie the command cards that allow you to gain tech or dust from command point destruction).
Or some mechanic that would allow a "bonus" card being played that would grant those type of abilities.
or better yet:
You get to play a card per flotilla and that card affects only the flotilla it's associated with.
A better implementation of the battle cards really would make the battles more dynamic (and interesting).
