Should missiles be able to fire from both broadside and not restricted by firing arc?

Kinda bugging me for a while since missiles is you know, missiles. It is fire and forgot weapon system so the direction shouldn't be matter to them and yet, either port side or starboard will be firing. This could make missiles a bit more unique compare to other weapons system that the game offered.

Logically, yes, since you can fire them in the exact opposite direction and they'd still be able to turn around and find their target. Whether it would make sense in terms of balance, can't say.

I kinda wish every weapons system have their own unique perk so it standout instead of working the same way with difference numberic value. Slugs got their own qib where it double itself as Flak. Still no idea what should make Lasers unique. Beams currently hit 100% on all range which make it unique on it own already but adjustment still need.

If missiles had their DPS halved (since this change necessarily doubles the number of missiles), it could actually make a nice solution to the current problem of Flak shooting down missiles too effectively, since there would be twice as many missiles to target.


At the same time, I hate to imagine the effect on my computer trying to render twice the missiles.
