Hello everyone,

I'm posting  to try to get a more relevant take on faction consistency given that so much posted information is many months old and, therefore, potentially outdated.  That being said, what are your experiences with the different factions and their consistency over multiple games.  Does any faction require, in your experience, a good start if they want to be successful?  Do any of the factions that you have played hit roadblocks or other issues later down the road with some variability?

three factions definitely requires good start.

1. Cravers, because they deplete planets, so it would be extremely helpful if you have a lower tier planet in your home system, or some low teir planets in the systems nearby which would be easy to colonize.

2. Rift Born, because they have their Terraforming tech tree backwards. As Rift Born, Larva and Artic planets are your teir 1, Ash and Snow are your teir 2. So if you spawn in a region with lots of Terran, Forest, Mediterainian or Atoll planets, you are screwed.

3. Vodyani, because they need to leech people. so if you spawn by yourself, that's not good, but it is still managable. the Vodyani so prefer temperate planets, which gives them faster pop growth, since they have 50% growth penalty as a faction trait.

Yeah I saw that arks can be outfitted with essence modules to help ease the burden of not having nearby neighbors.  Given the time constraints on the cravers starting world there start seems to matter the most.  Do the riftborn run into the problem as much as those two though?  In my limited experience it seems like the lava/arctic/ice type planets are a lot more numerous than the more earth-type biomes.

my main problem with riftborn is their reliance on strategic resources of speeding up the growth of colonies and their time dilation effects, if you don't find any nearby sources then your stuck with just the starting sources but those are only a scource of 1 each turn

Could be influenced by chosen setting for galaxy age. Not sure about.
