I'm curious ulimately if after completing this mission and unlocking the content as it mentions, whether this will just unlock the here to be randomly given out by the academy assignments or if the two part quest will stay to get him like the stellar prisoner chain.

Got the hero on a new game, fast speed, sandbox, small galaxy. Dust Nebulas are specific to Endless Day. Thanks for the hints everyone.

1. The game spawns a Trove System with a medium fleet defending it

2. You get the quest to kill the fleet

Note: Multiple Trove Systems will spawn, as apparently each Empire - Player and AI - can get the quest. Make sure you pick the right system.

I know, I wasted 4 days trying to get it with exsisting games. I'll try to rush it today.

Anyway, one can always "go back in time". But my OCD calls for achievement with a legit date.

Have in mind that the mission will finish today, I think, so after the Endless day event end you won't be able to unlock the hero until next year (if they don't unlock him for everyone as charity)

P.D: I had the mission at turn 82 too.

Turn 110 and I still can't get the quest. Not sure if I should continue, or start a new game with faster speed and easier settings to skip turns faster.

Is Dust Halo a separate anomaly from Dust Nebula? Not this one?

What speed are you playing the game at ? Also, make sure to deactivate any mods for that one session just in case.

The quest should appear on turn 84/85 on a normal speed game (however the difficulty may affect the timing so try playing at easy->hard)

& the Dust Halo is different than the Dust Nebula; it's also more common, I encountered around 3 in 2 constellations.

It'll also say Dust Halo.

Hope this helped !

Got him around turn 85, normal difficulty, normal speed, playing as the Sophons in a game I started more or less just to get him

If you see the Dust Halo anomaly, I think you're in good shape. I didn't get my quest until ~turn 100 or so.

Do you have any mods active, and are you sure you didn't encounter the "Stranger at the Door" Quest (turn 82-84)

An indicator that the quest is in the game would be seeing the "Dust Halo" anomaly on planets that you have explored or colonized.

Nope no luck at all.

Just kidding :)

Quest starts mid game, just have to start a game during the endless update that is for the next few days.

I find it a little bit strange that Esseb Veltaros uses regular minor faction skill tree and not endless skill tree like Tiaych Zhilleaq. Also, where I can find information, that I get  Esseb Veltaros, there is no such info in Steam's content window, only achievement Day+J18s.

Thanks for the reminder. I thought Endless day was tomorrow. Just fired up a new game right before end and got him in turn 44 (quick, hard)

Amazing technoligist seeker. Exactly what I wanted :D

Played for 40 turns and nothing has popped up.

I have checked the 'Contents' section of the main menu and it mentions that I have  'Endless Day Update'.

So I think I am on the right track.

The description of the said update is '...uncover the secrets behind strange awakenings in the Endless Ruins'

I am assuming this has to do with one of the special planets scattered around the map.

and the quest might activate once I get to it.

Anyone have ideas?

You do not need to scan it, you need to control it - just claim the planet with dust cloud for your own via colonisation or conquest.

Just to confirm that difficulty does not seem to influence this:

I just got the quest on turn 82 while playing a new game (started today afternoon-ish CET) on sandbox difficulty.

I just got him :-) The quest started on turn 82, completed it to get the hero and the steam achievement.

Mine was on a new game, got him about turn 75 on one run and about turn 100 the next. Also its possible to dupe him, i hired him from the marketplace and then got his clone/twin brother from the quest, heh.

Quick question guys, did you start a new game or continue your current game you were playing to find the quest. Also on roughly what turn did the quest show up on?

Yup, got mine as well. Was rather straightforward. Not 100% sure if the difficulty makes any difference - I got mine on Endless.

Yeah, I just got mine as well.

Turns out it has nothing to do with special planets whatsoever.

Finished the quest "Stranger at the Door" which leads to another quest called "Living Memory" .

Finishing "Living Memory" leads to unlocking Endless Day.

The quest was a standard bring a fleet to destroy some generated fleet at a location. And the second one was possessing a planet with an anomaly "Dust Halo". Both of them are kindly quest marked, so doing it was a breeze.

Not sure how I triggered it, however.
