As a returning EA member I have again replayed ES2 and have been very pleased with the progress made since launch.

I thought that I might give you a reappraisal...

Game play is much improved and really no issues to note.  Optimisation is far better than when last played.

New DLC is very good and adds to the game.  Would have liked to see the portal orbiting one of the planets in planet view.

Bugs are under control, no real issues to report on my play through

Factions,  Cravers feel like lame sharks.  These guys ought to have some serious attitude and represent more of a threat in mid to late games.  Escalating threat if left unchecked.

Feelings, Very little frustration encountered with game mechanics.  Feel that content is sqewed towards multi player rather than single player.  I like good single player games with story, a lot of single players play this game, you just do not know how many.

Overall quite impressed.  Then the dev’s are very good here.  Well done to all.

Ok so what it needs, moving forwards...

Quite simply a full campaign story that gives background to the endless universe.  After viewing “quality time with Jeff Spock” it seems clears that your senior writer would love to bring out background history within the game.

My thoughts on this are let the team make a full campaign story with many art and video assets and new unique ships, planets, and nodes to add.  Choice in the story lines and real consequence for actions and dilemmas.  Make it a DLC of quality and depth.  The campaign ought to run the entire playthrough length of the game.

No more psycopathic emporors or dooms day weapons just a good fleshed out backdrop to enhance an already great game.

Ok thats it.  Reply if you like the idea I have set up a poll thread.  Lets get some action injected to keep this game going for a very long time.

Plug for that other EA success game.  Play Subnautica for a change of pace and an example of how to make quality single player games without guns.  Yes you have to use your wits.

Hey cjfoster1960,

I really appreciate the interest and fascination you have for our universe! Believe me, after working on this for *7* years now it really feels like a member of the family.

But I have to be honest; for the moment we are not planning a single-player "campaign" style playthrough with a canon story. This is for a few reasons:

  • To be fair, we would have to include all the major and minor civs and all the resources and everything that *could* be in the universe--otherwise according to canon they don't exist anymore. That means a DLC of enormous scope and complexity (and time and cost).

  • As mentioned in my other posts, making this one playthrough the official one means that every other playthrough ever done isn't "real", and I would rather not do that

  • More practically, I don't know what faction I would make the player play...

We plan to do a lot more with the universe, though! There are lots of stories and games hiding in the Endless Multiverse, and I would really like to develop them. So my apologies for saying that the big DLC looks unlikely, but hopefully we can scratch that itch in some other way.

Regards,

-Slow

Hi Mr Slow

I look forward to more content from this game as I feel it has a great future.  For me stories are an integral part of developing ideas, history and immersion.  I am not sure why every aspect of this galaxy has to be explored in one story.  I personally like a more focused approach, a more intimate plot that sits within the narrative of the whole.

No one play through has to be official, just a starting point.  Otherwise we would never have any stories.  Canon and history are a matter of perception, or perspective.  It always adds to the whole, without diminishing the integrity of the core game.

I would not force the player to play any specific faction.  A story does not require this.  It is a backdrop to the stage.

Kind regards

Colin

I think one of the Key things the endless univers has, which makes it SO good, is all the bacground in all the games not being forced to the fore... It is there, you can interact with it and learn about it and it adds emmersion as you play more. But also it is almost hidden; it's like the exhoes of the silmarillion when you read Lord of the Rings.

But I am sure as more games are made they will show moreof the world and let you interact with more of the story. It's just there games are never "story games" they are games with immence story if you search it out. It's super cool. Doubtless they will continue to add things to the game and the universe that keeps brining the hidden story to the fore and lett you interact with it more.
