I'm just curious if anyone from Amplitude knows if the Vodyani were designed with any intention to be like, or were in any way inspired by, the Ori from SG-1. I did a quick forum search and I didn't see any results about this. Obviously it's not a 1 to 1 design. But several elements feel thematically similar. The leaching of spiritual energy. The pretty black & white options in conquest. The virtualization of Vodyani is somewhat like being ascended. The vodyani themselves do not like being corporal much like the Ori. Their method of war is kind of similiar, sure they have fleets of ships but their main focus is on absorbing as much energy from planets/population as possible.

Interesting catch. The thought never crossed my mind, though. Besides the religious theme, I get a totally different vibe when I think about the both of them.
