The victory screen says I need 4 technologies in one place and 6 in another. I have all 4 "of the endless" techs, so it seems like 6 is correct, but I have no idea what the other 2 are. What is going on?

Are you in an alliance with another faction ?

You need four endless technologies for a science victory. However, if you are in an alliance, the number of required techs goes up by two for each member, since the game counts the number of endless techs researched by each member of the alliance. So, if you are in an alliance, you will need your allies to research the endless techs.

How do you get the AI to research techs? Generally speaking if you are going for tech vicotry you want to be in an alliance as it keeps you from having to war so much.

In any case the in-game tooltip is inconsistent, uninformative, and looks like a bug. It says nothing about alliances and just talks about how you need 6/4 technologies to win.

What I did was give them all the techs except for the Endless ones, and they ended up being forced to research it. Or just wait till they research on their own.

OR. Break the alliance, easy as that, game-over, you win.

In any case, the tooltip was pretty easy for me to figure out, and it kinda spoke for itself since getting in alliance obviously makes all the victory conditions higher for that alliance when you compare it to a single player (otherwise everyone would get in an alliance to easily win the game at every victory condition, kinda common sense), y'know, since they released that update a while back that allowed shared alliance victories.

Btw, it's not a bug.

I said it APPEARS like a bug. It's intentional but so badly communicated that the player can't figure out what is going on just based on in-game information.
