The latest update rendered the current game I'm playing unplayable because the mods I'm using are not compatible with the mods I'm using.  Is there anyway to roll back the update?

In Steam, Right click Endless Space 2 -> Properties -> Betas -> 1.2.11 - Backup
Although most mods will be updated shortly for the new update.

If I do that it immediately begins to downloiad the update and won't allow me to start until the download is finished and installed.

Do you need a code to unlock the drop down?

This is as the game has to redownload any files that changed during todays update and many are quite large.

No, the 1.2.11 - Backup should be available to all from the dropdown.
If the dropdown is not opening then thats a Steam bug.

I was mistaken, the former version was re-downloading.  It worked.

Turn off Auto-update for ES2 in Steam. Then you can decide when to update vs Modded play.
