Yep, you need the founders edition which is long gone & Amplitude have said they are not going to put them up as dlc.

Also they are not just Craver ship skins as the Prime ships are different models.

That's what ship skins are lol, the models are always different, i.e the Mezari Fleet Skin.

That seems a little lame. I mean, why wouldn't you offer a new edition with everything? This is why game counsels are doing so well. They always offer everything sometime later to rejuvinate more sales. Seems like a wasted opportunity.

I find this very strange too that they said this. Firstly, because I don't remember a dev saying "it will never be accessible again" (but I don't trust my memory like that. Plus it is an information I could easily miss). And secondly because as of now, every limited content for their other games has been reintroduced later ... but long long after their initial release. So I would have assumed the Cravers Prime Fleet would be gifted/sold in two or three years at least.

No, models don't always change with a new skin. The term "skin" means what's on the outside, the texture.

For example Company of Heroes 2 has lots of vehicle dlc skins which just change the camo pattern while the model stays the same.

If the model does change as well as the skin texture the term "skin" is used for ease of use.

True, but in Amplitude's case (which differs from the going trend), most "skins" actually come with model changes. Although the Mezari faction is pretty much identical to the Vaulters with a different color scheme, I think they're an outlier. Are their unit models different? I started to play them a ways back but never ended up getting far into my session.

I was speaking about purely Amplitude games skins. The models are roughly different for ES2. I mean I've dumped quite a few wallets into League of Legends since I started playing 6 years ago, and they're well known for the hundreds of skins that at one time were just texture changes but now can be completely different models.

The Mezari skin includes some model changes and actually doesn't seem too close to the Vaulter base skin. They're only similar in the fact that the Vaulter ships are supposed to be exact models of ancient Mezari ships, while the UE Mezari ships are supposed to hold qualities reminiscent of their Mezari forebearers.

Were the city district models different? I seem to recall them being the same, but now I need to go back and double check. O.o

The only difference the Craver Prime skins introduced were for the ships. Everything else is the same as with normal Cravers.

Aren't the Mezari fleets the same as the Empire fleets? Sorry, I thought you were talking about the Empire-to-Mezari transformation that's part of the Empire's story quest.

Anyway, models and textures are completely different things. The Prime skins just applied a sleek, black texture over the standard Craver models. Likewise, the Mezari skin applied different colors, but didn't change the models.
