I'm not too familiar with Endless lore (haven't read the comics and have only completed a few questlines), but I love when there is a reason or background behind units' aesthetics in games. I was wondering if there are any particular background behind each of the fleet skins that were revealed as stretch goals for this free weekend.

  • Cravers Prime: Formerly the pre-order-only skin, I know that this skin depicts the Cravers as either the original android Craver prototypes, or the "ascended" Wasps.
  • Sophon Mavros: Self-explantory, depicts the Sophons as their more-aggressive, industrial cousins.
  • Unfallen Firekeepers: I assume the Firekeepers are some sort of caste within Unfallen society. There is a similar-sounding role, the Firetenders, mentioned in the starting hero community vote.
  • Riftborn Redshifted: I'm at a complete lost for this one. Given the meaning behind "redshifting," I assume these Riftborns have adapted or are corrupted in some way.
  • Horatio Emerald: Also at a loss. These Horatios just like emerald colors?
  • Lumeris Buccaneer: Lumeris pirates?
  • Vodyani Heretic: Another self-explanatory one. A depiction of the Heretic's fleet.

I think Horatio emerald is just a tribute to Horatio ships in ES1 or just his favorite color palette (green + golden)

Don't know what Firekeepers, Redshifted or Emerald could mean either, but the former two I had the same idea. It would be awesome to get someone from Amplitude to give some light or for them to create some ideas.

I do really like that they're releasing these kind of seemingly lorefriendly skins. I had actually made a custom Mavros and Vodyani Heretic empire in the way I thought they'd play as and a more aggressive Unfallen faction that'd given in to "fire". I mostly did it to just fill out a 12 player game without same empires appearing, and while I don't think you can set individual AI to use skins, it'll certainly add to the aesthetic idea of actually playing them myself!

Yeah, so you're pretty much right.

Cravers Prime: The original designs of Craver ships used by the Virtual Endless, as well as the designs used by the current Virtual Endless led Wasp faction on the Infinite Factory

Mavros: Ya said it.

Unfallen Firekeepers: If I'm not mistaken (it's been a while since I did the Unfallen Quest), Firekeepers are one of the main factional groups within Unfallen Society.

Riftborn Redshifted: DEVs ?

Horatio Emerald: Like Sublustris mentioned, it's a tribute to the original skins. Lore-wise it could also play as older or newer designs of Horatio ships, as in the lore, much of Horatio Prime has stylistic differences for its infrastructure that often changed with Horatio's every changing likes.

Lumeris Buccaneer: So the guy, Arden, from the Lumeris Main Quest, leads a faction of Mercenaries/Pirates/etc so this skin could likely represent his group of Lumerians.

Buccaneer: a daring, adventurous, and sometimes reckless person, especially in business. <- Kinda (really, really) sounds like Arden

Vodyani Heretic: Ya said it again. Although it's important to note that this was his fleet before his rebellion was crushed (the Academy uses it's own ships and not Vodyani ones)
