Effect of Gossamer System Development

Could someone explain what the effect of the Gossamer luxury is on System Development please?


The tooltip says "+100% Star Trade Value to Influence". My assumption was that the Trade Value of the system would be added as influence. However after building it on a system I saw no effect on Influence - the only influence came from pop (from Microwave Pipes and National Museum) and from Colony Base and being Ecstatic.


So I assume that I misinterpreted the tooltip and that instead influence affects Trade Value somehow. However, given that Influence in the system is around 150 and trade value is around 20, I don't see how the 100% factors in. In general I have a hard time figuring how Trade Value is calculated so maybe there is some multiplier here I am missing ... 


Can someone shed some light on this?

Thanks - I had seen that post before when searching. However the issue is that I don't see Gossamer do anything (at least not as far as increasing Influence is concerned). It's not just a numerical difference.

I second your observation. I tried testing Gossamer a few patches back and found it either did nothing noticable or that the influence is dumped directly into empire influence pool instead of helping expand system influence/borders.


But without anything in the game telling us the numerical value for "System trade value" (a repeatedly requested feature), I wasn't sure to report it as a bug or not.

Having the "System Trade Value" for each system shown would be so very helpful, as it is refered to so many times, and at present, we have no real idea what it is.  As it must be used to calculate the many increases you can get for it, surely it can't be hard to show it somewhere on the system page?


I'm sure someone here knows how to calculate it, but the majority of us have no idea!

I would definitely love to see more info on how System Trade Value is calculated in game. Otherwise it's hard to judge whether those +25% or +100% to Trade Value improvements are worth the effort or not or where the would have the biggest impact.


I am one of those people that is obsessed with reproducing numbers and not being able to know what goes on for Trade leaves me a bit frustrated. I know this is probably personal OCD more than anything else (for Endless Legend I had built a City simulator spreadsheet that was able to replicate the exact City FIDSI output given any number of Improvements built and bonuses from various sources, as well as a Hero/Army simulator, again taking into account all the gear and bonuses - and got an enourmous sense of being able to get those numbers spot on) but for a game that is otherwise so great at providing tooltips and breakdowns of contributing sources the lack of info regarding Trade really stands out.
