There should be an option to turn obliterators off in a game.

I've been playing a fun game on the biggest galaxy map, but then the AI started building obliterators and this is how it went.
Every turn, there were like 20 Obliterator shots and it got REALLY annoying.

I'd go Juggernaut with Ion Wave although I've never tried this before.

Are you sure about that? There is an option during setup to make Behemoths only available by quest, instead of the techs available at the start. Everyone still gets them anyway (especially AI that don't do quests). I don't see anything that turns them off completely.

As someone coming back to the game after a time away, I'd like a total disable option for Behemoths. Judging from the recent threads on this subject, every faction going automatically to this ship type seems like it flattens out the distinctive factions, and needs a fix.

It is true that devs said they're considering about implementing an option to turn the superweapons off but it's yet to be implemented on the public build actually. I'm not interested on that option but it might be not that bad to have such thing.

I have played a lot of games on endless and never seen that kinda of obliterator bombardment.  I have had a few games where I was caught off guard and lost a really nice system. It was my baby haha. I just rebuilt the whole thing while I attacked the AI that did it. Your game is still winnable.  If anything you can try buying alot of the resources so they cant do consective shots like that. If the AI is a huge powerhouse with its own strong economy and military power that dwarfs your own. Shouldn't that be on you? You let that happen in one way or another. Time to take the punishment.   If you ask for a button that turns super weapons off, you are just putting yourself in a bubble where you don't have to learn. Thats never a good thing.

Normally they will bombard your Capital or your biggest system that they have mapped. I just put some extra defense to that system normally.

Yes  exactly, Put one citadel and one system defense shield. You only lose the shield after a hit and have to rebuild. With shots like that picture, few will sneak by. Not end of the game though.

100% for this. I just think the oblitorator is a kind of meh mechanic when we already have core crackers. I want everything kept on except the oblitorator!

I'm for this, theres no reason not to have it as a mere option, its not a pivitol part of the gameplay but people are very much divided on being for and against their use, and wish they could revert to before they got the dlc because of that reason. May as well have the option there at least, to please everyone.

There should be a button to disable population management. I dislike this mechanic, therefore i should get a button to disable it.

Relax, not trying to insult anyone here. I just don't understand the big fuss around behemoths and i do not want Amplitude to waste ressource for a button, actually, there is one already. You CAN disable supremacy. OR learn the behemoth mechanics, research shields, set up a citadel in your most important system, look around the galaxy for any obliterator shots and finally, if you do get a system destroyed, use a behemoth to restore it THEN murder that AI who shot you.

As we have hinted on one of our preview streams, we are considering an option to turn off superweapons (Obliterators as well as Core Crackers), as this is indeed a divisive feature, as Pyrocite points out.

I haven't seen anyone against Core Crackers. Personally, I'm fine with Core Crackers. The reason I don't like Obliterators is because they don't have any counterplay beyond total war.

There are also no real consequences for firing an obliterator beyond the cost of the shot (and perhaps the ire of any human player you've targeted.)

i play on low resorces, i can assure you firing that many shots would not be posssible (unless you already owned half a huge ass galaxy and going to win anyway) with the costs of obliterator shots...i looove low resorces will never go back.

makes system with resorces/luxuries super important, and will be a focus. im on turn 120 in my current game  have been at war with the vod over a system with trit/hyp for some time. it is finnaly turning in my favor though. makes quests super prioraty, trading and buying from market is also important

i have 1 system with admantium and another with anti, ive had those for some time. and VERY USEFUL.

you have to really plan what systems your going to lvl up as well. your going to get them all to lvl 2 for sure, but more than that requires market planning (availibility and cost), or agressive taking in other contilations, or trading
