A bit over one year ago, i made this thread https://www.games2gether.com/endless-space-2/forums/65-general/threads/28744-anyone-with-good-game-settings-to-have-a-challenging-and-interesting-games-against-the-ai?page=1#post-254394 where i asked for pointers to make the game more interesting because even in endless difficulty, it was an easy ride once in mid to late game "thanks" to the AI passiveness. I mostly stopped playing afterwards, outside of a few MP games with friends.

Since then, there have been two new expansions and probably a lot of patches and balance changes i haven't followed. So could you kindly tell me how fun is the game now compared to one year ago ?

My top 3 issues at the time were :

1. AI passiveness and terrible FIDS mismanagment making me win by turn 150 without breaking a sweat
2. Lot of irrelevant quests rewards or events (like get +10 science when i am making 10 000 a turn) that were distracting once out of early game.
3. Busted political system where you didn't really have any way to meaningfully influence your party composition. Scientists riftobrn or industrialist sophones were impossible or not worth the huge trouble. Which was extremely annoying with some quests where you are supposed to put a particular party in power.

after looking on reddit on /r/endlesspace , it seems i should stay clear of the supremacy DLC because of the behemoths reducing the fun for many players, isn't that right ? Also, how is the umbra choir DLC by comparison ?

You can turn off the superweapons in the Supremacy DLC nowadays so it isn't as controversial to those who don't like them. You probably won't get a good answer on the rest until the dust has settled from the new DLC and people figure out how to play well again.
