Is Sister of Mercy is a race or a nation of people?

If

1. The Sister of Mercy is a race. Do they have male population/gender?

1.1. If they have male population/gende, Why do I/we never see them before?

1.2. If they don't have male population/gender, How do they reproduce? Are they Hermaphrodite (having both male and female sex organs ) with female Human appearance (breast for feeding their young) ??

2. The Sister of Mercy is a nation of people. What their society look like?

2.1 Do their society is female dominant in social role to the point of male population have no social role? Only being a "househusband"? So we don't see male in their people.

2.2 Or there are no male population/gender at all? (So, we go back to question 1)

I've been curious about this for years now...

The Sisters of Mercy are an organization, not a race. However, it is an organization whose existence and support is pretty much the primary function of its civilization. There are males and females in the civilization that the Sisters of Mercy come from; it is a roughly medieval culture on a similar branch in the Aurigan tree of peoples to the Ardent Mages and the Roving Clans.

However, the Sisters of Mercy is a religious, sororal order that is essentially the entirety of the sole church of this civilization. What this means is that the civilization is built up largely around the church, and the church is built up pretty much around the selection, training, and deployment of the Sisters of Mercy.

You could think of their civilization as an entire city-state dedicated to the development and maintenance of a religious order--the Sisters of Mercy--in the way that entire communities and cities sprang up around the larger and more powerful medieval monasteries and abbies (Cluny, Leubus, Tawang).
