I don't know if this kind of metaphor only comes to my mind. But I must say that some endless space nations are very similar to real-life nations.

I think United empire, a Russian-German synthesis. The Vodyani looks like a Crusader knights, Does anyone have any idea or knowledge of this situation?

This is a very curious situation for me.

Some have inspirations:

- Vaulters - vikings

- UE - slavic

- Hissho mix of japan and aztec

- Lumerus - Venice republic

But hard to see for Riftborn, cravers, Horatio, UC, Unfallen, Sophons.

The Russo-German (Eurasian) synthesis is correct. For Vodyani, I could never really pinpoint their culture but some names seem either Slavic or in the same language group as Finnish and Hungarian. Sophons are inspired by Roswell aliens (short gray guys except in this case with cybernetic implants/suits). I think it might be stretching to say that the Lumerians have a Venetian culture, although their government is definitely structured like an Italian mercantile republic or 1930s American gangster underworld, only more legitimate. The rest of the major factions are either partially inspired by other games like fabre said, or are pretty alien. They take more from concepts like lovecraft, mathematics, factory-assigned names (Horatio), or even musical theory.

Ummm...from Zerg? I think that's a stretch.

Cravers are driven by consumption and the need to consume. Zerg are not.

Zerg are driven by a Hive mind. Cravers are not.

Zerg are a distinctly Psionic race. Cravers are not.

Cravers practice slavery. Zerg do not.

Zerg tech is entirely organic in nature. Cravers use more traditional tech.

I could be wrong so please correct me if I am.

I meant their aesthetic, the biological part of them really gives zerg vibes.

Edit: Also their theme

You mean Cravers addressing themselves as "THE HIVE" is just a witty sharade?

When the Cravers speak of themselves as "The Hive," they are talking about their societal entity as a whole, the same way that any orator might refer to a group of people he represents. Slashman is correct: The cravers are a hive, a eusocial structure, not a "hive mind" in the usual sense.
