I've been playing Endless Space 2 for a while and love the Vodyani, their aesthetics, their story, etc but was always saddened that the AI could never play them. In every game, they'd always be near or bottom of the scoring.

I searched forever trying to find a mod or collection of settings to make them competitive but never found anything until I discovered -enablemoddingtools. Since discovering it, I've done the following several times,

1. switched from my faction to the Vodyani AI
2. enable god mode
3. maxed out their essence and given them tonnes of money and influence
4. gone into their building queue and, again with god mode, added an ark, some food buildings, and several leechers
5. gone into their tech tree and given them some terraforming techs
6. switched back to my faction

If this is done together with them having a constellation to themselves, they become very strong pretty early and continue that way.

I know this is a giant cheat for the AI Vodyani but I find that it makes them actually competitive rather than the usual cannon fodder. I've done it for the AI Hissho too with positive effects.

I was wondering if anyone else does this and maybe I'm just very late to the moddingtools game.

That's not very practical, but It's probably possible to make a mod that does what you are saying.
