Aimed more towards the devs in charge of the lore, but what culture / language are the Sophon names based off of? I'm trying to make a mod that adds more Sophon/Mavros heroes, and I'm really not sure how to name either.

I wholeheartedly support your effort; any game can only be improved through the addition of Sophons and Mavros (imho).

 These are the guidelines we originally wrote down when we started working on the Sophon faction:

"The Sophons have multi-syllabic names with many vowels, with a rhythm and sound somewhere between Spanish and Arabic. Their love of long-winded discussion and loooong technical words has also shown up in their preference for long names."

To that I add these examples:

Fahedhm Uthman Maram

Fahenrha Asma Darzi

The Mavros don't have cultural roots that tie them closely to the Sophons; the similarities stop with the DNA. Their life philosophy is also clearly different: "What Mavros care about is the future, and how many guns they can get hold of to alter its course." Mavros names are monosyllabic and much harsher than the Sophon names; single-syllable Turkish or Greek words would be good inspirations.

I just have to chime in, I love the Sophon and Mavros. REALLY hoping for a future with playable Mavros. (I'm sorry but painting my ships red just isn't enough!)
