Language lecture trap card activated!

The positive use of sick first appeared in the US in the early eighties, but didn’t emerge in British usage until relatively recently. It follows in the wake of wicked and bad, two other adjectives which have taken on a popular ‘inverted’ meaning (i.e. a meaning which represents the direct opposite of one of their other meanings). Such inverted meanings turn out to be older than you might expect – the positive use of wicked, for instance, dates as far back as 1920, when it was first used to mean ‘wonderful’ by author F. Scott Fitzgerald in his first novel This Side of Paradise.

TL:DR I think he means "In Bruno We Trust!" forum signature and he is complimenting you on your choice.
For it appears you may have read the same non-mainstream book, thus you are free to tip the hat towards each other, as you both are "(wo)men of shared culture".

I think he reffered to quote in description and not in signature.

I just got to the forum, returning to the game world. All those quarantine issues kinda borrowed me IRL.

Well, I studied British English at school in the nineties...but now it is so mixed in my head!  Here, in fact, a litlle bit of a cognitive dissonance arose. And thanks for the lecture, seriosly!

Actually I knew about ‘inverted’ meaning of "wicked", but couldn`t draw a parallel line for some reason...

And yes CaptainCobbs reffered to the quote in description and not in the signature. Vernor Vinge is one of my favorite authors too!

As you figured - my signature sign is not connected to the profile sign. "In Bruno We Trust!" is about Giordano Bruno, the guy who took one of the hardest blows so that today we can calmly play games like Endless Space, rather than declared heretics.

Edit: well, in some particular places we still could be....
