To explore or not to explore all the galaxy?

I have Argosy stationed in a system and I've been using it with a Faering ship for the sake of exploring (while I wait for the colonization moment with Argosy), should I explore freely the universe to reveal as many systems that I can or should I be more discrete and keep only a few systems revealed? I'm afraid the more systems revealed, more enemies are going to react according to the revelation, that is, if I reveal a major faction, this one is going to make agressive moves against me, whereas, if I don't reveal it, I can take some more time to develop my systems. I don't know if endless space 2 is the same concept of 4X territory (nation) conquest where you expand your territory after consolidating the one you already have and don't go too further invading another cities (administrations which have the possibility of having an enemy).

I'd just keep exploring. Most factions will get pissy at you but can't actually retaliate or come through with their threads. Generally, the rewards from anomalies are worth possibly pissing off a faction. If it's someone like Cravers, Hissho, or Vodyani, I'd be careful though, they might attack regardless of whether they can win a war with you or not.

I see. This can be a pain then, starting unnecessary fights too early only to need to spend resources to repair ships afterwards, recover troops, etc. My playthrough has 8 major factions, certainly I'm going to face at least one of the factions you mentioned sooner or later and it's going to be a mess if I face one of them in the beginning of the game.

You're generally fine to keep exploring. Just keep going until they close their borders or you see that they have a military you can't face. The more anomalies you can find the more powerful improvements you can potentially build.

Can I flee a battle if they attack me?

Is it safe to use Argosy to explore the galaxy even though I'm not going to be able to use probes?

It's actually kind of the point of the Argosy to explore as far and wide as possible, since your portals allow you to move defense fleets across the galaxy instantly.  Since the Vaulters can jump around their portals and protect their planets with ease, it makes sense to explore as far as you can and go for the juiciest systems you find--preferably ones with unique planets and lots of good anomalies.

Befriend Pirates if you can. Having a portal on every pirate layer is really strong as vaulter and helps avoiding confrontation.
