Vodyani last quest.

I'm sure it's been mentioned a lot before but the fact still remains that if you disable superweapons on game creation you will be entirely (far as I know) unable to finish one of the last quests that requries you to destroy two planets. It is very, very dissapointing, especially since I typically play campaigns untill main quest completion.


It would've been very nice to put a little text headsup anywhere in the game to warn the player about this being the case.


On this subject - does anyone know any workarounds to this that do not require remaking and replaying another session? Or any other quests with similiar surprises. Thanks.

Hm, I haven't played in a while. But, doesn't "disable superweapons" only remove behemoths?

That should still leave you with the planetcracker module from the war as a hobby technology. You can only equip it on carriers or Arks and unlike the obliterator it does not destroy an entire system, but cracks only one planet. But as far as I remember that should do the trick.

You could go for the other branch of the Vodyani questline. The faction quest branches out on the quest with the options to bring a hero to the system far away, or take it under your control, if you choose to take the system under your control, then the later quests will be entirely different, and don't require you to destroy any planets.

Yes exactly that, it branches out pretty early on with no choices after that anymore and that was like 50-60 turns earlier in this campaign because the system it chose was super far away, and then I also had to haul a scout there to actually explore it too. I dont have a save for that anymore and even if i had I'd had to replay about half the game anyway. Besides the two paths should be very different text-wise too, wich for me adds a layer of replayability to the game. Even if you play the same faction its going to be different because of different quest paths you can take, wich is cool imo.


Also the planet cracker tech are the tier 3 weapons nowdays (adamantine/the other energy ones). I remade the game with super weapons on to confirm. Or at least thats where they are for Vodyani.
