Hi Guys,

I have been playing ES2 for some time now and enjoying thourougly. Love it.

I am playing at impossible difficulty with Vaulters. I have made a custom Carrier class ship, having offense of 28752 and defense 3152. Total of 5 ship Fleet having attack 143760, health 536K and shields 28236. Still when fighting with enemy fleet having attack 72379, health 730K and shields 36136. Enemy fleet also have an Hero of Level12 also.

Please guide where to improve to get winning results. I use auto battles always.

Looking forward to your help and guidance.

Regards

Hello Deepak Gupta,

Glad to hear you enjoy the game! As for tips for better space battle results, here's a few in no particular order:

1. Mixing different kinds on ships together to make a fleet is almost always better than using only one type of ship.

One of the reasons is ship targeting priority: when editing a ship you can see what ships it prefers to target by hovering over it's "role" (e.g. carrier, hunter etc.). Carriers kill other carriers first, so if the opponent uses only carriers you can use carriers with hunter ships (medium attackers). Hunters usually deal high damage but are rather fragile, but when other ships draw all enemy fire your hunters can be devastating!

2. Good thing you noticed your opponents hero. Experienced heroes are tremendously powerful in battle. Guardian heroes are the best in head-to-head combat, while seekers make your fleet mobile and observant. That being said, heroes flexible and can be used in any way you want regardless of their role.

3. Weapons. Using a single weapon type on a single ship is often a good idea. That is because of kinetic enhancers and energy intensifiers.

Making fleets is always a balancing act between the raw power of using a single weapon and the flexibility of using all kinds of weapons.

4. Ships with support modules can be insanely useful. A fleet of carriers is a lot tankier when it includes a single protector ship with fleet repair modules. Remember to protect your support ships and they will be worth the strategic resources you put in them.

5. Strategic resources will give you an edge in battle, so use whatever you can spare. Be wary of putting all you strategics in one fleet, as it is usually better to have two mediocre fleets than it is to have one really expensive fleet.

Oh I've already written a lot, this is definitely enough... no just one more then I'll stop

6. I'll have to add this as it is my own great weakness: remember to research military tech. I often forget them during peacetime. Needless to say, I've often found myself sitting on a mountain of strategic resources and not being able to really use them in ships because I didn't have the modules.

And that concludes my scientific essay on "how to make opponent go boom in space game". Thank you for attending my Ted talk.

An important thing I want to add: Range!

Different weapontypes perform quite differently depending onn range.  For example misslie weapons are a lot more effective in long-range combat then in close range. The tactics you choose in the pre battle screen will determine in what range which flotilla will try to go.

In the pre-battle screen there is a little + symbol at the bottom. Clicking it will bring you to an advanced tactics screen, where among other things you can see at which ranges your fleet has an advantage over the opponents. Choosing your tactics accordingly can make your fleet a lot more effective.

I've learnt that the hard way by losing a lot of fleets against weaker opponents just because I chose bad tactics.

I think the best way to understand the mechanics and to improve is to actually watch the battles. Autoresolve is fine when you know, why you are winning or losing. But if you don't, watching the battle unfold is of tremendous help.

There are a lot of factors to consider (e.g. Ship design, target priority, fleet composition, flottillas, battle tactics, range ...) in a battle. The raw numbers might give you an indication as to who might win. But they can be misleading as well.

Would have to see the Advanced Battle Report to know how to improve. You could be making basic tactical errors, or being hard-countered by enemy ship design.

Personally, I'd guess that this Carrier design is less powerful than the numbers are suggesting. Like maybe you've only put Shields on and neglected Armor modules or something.
