You should be able to run ES2 on minimum settings on your laptop.

Is that like a really low setting, will it be kind of disappointing?

Should I just try it out and see where it goes?

Edit: Well I bought it anyway, we'll see what happens.

Most computers operate on Windows 10 and those that don't are holdouts(*cough* myself *cough*) despite Microsoft ending support for Windows 7 earlier this year. Based on just what you've posted, your laptop should be able to run it just fine. Recommended specs for discrete GPU calls for Radeon 8000 series or Nvidia 660. Radeon 8000 series was released back in like 2013 I want to say while NVidia 660 was late 2012. Based on what you've posted, I wager your laptop was from ~2018 or so? If yes, you're easily capable of running the game with no issues whatsoever. Only area where I might be concerned is the amount of RAM but I'm optimistic it came with at least 8 GB.

I'm curious how this goes for you. I never looked at the game's minspec listing before, but that is completely bonkers nonsense.  An Intel HD 4000 and GTX 550 Ti or Radeon HD 5800 are nowhere near each other in terms of performance comparison. Actually HD 4000 is a misnomer anyway because there are several variants of them and they perform differently based on how the laptop supplies it power. I don't think a very poorly performing HD 4000 could effectively run the game, even if it technically loads without crashing.

Anyway, your Vega 3 is listed on PassMark is very much lower performance than the Radeon and NVidia minspecs listed here, so I am curious how it worked out for you. It is newer tech, so there is a chance you've been okay.  I will say that on my own Samsung notebook with an Intel HD Graphics 620 I personally found the game unplayable; Endless Space does not perform well for me at all.  I actually run the game on my desktop and use Steam remote play to play it instead :)  But maybe I'm just used to playing it so smoothly on a desktop that in comparison it seems worse. Also playing a 4x game with a trackpad sucks, but you can use keyboard control mappings to help quite a bit.
