Hello people. As a vaulter, I benefit a lot with pirates partnership because of the portals and I have a good relationship with them. However, they still have small hulls while the other factions and me have medium hulls. How can I put a pirate contract on a faction if  their fleet are going to be destroyed instantly? am I missing something?

It looks like pirate alliances get cancelled out of your control due to the slightest fart in the wind. In my opinion, not worth it entirely because of this. Note, I'm not talking about the 20 turn timer or whatever. Though, I will admit that Endless difficulty makes a big difference.

I thought it was well known here that it's because other AI players are buying them out from under you. You can observe this occurring sometimes. Check your relations every single round, and as soon as you see that they have abandoned you, pay 1 time to bring them back into friendship with you. Then wait a few moments and you'll see you lose the alliance again. It's because that AI wants them back and has the money to spend. If you have a lot of Dust you can keep paying until you win the bidding war and they no longer leave you.

The only downside to this system is that sometimes the pirates are positioned near your assets with no current target. The moment someone buys them out from under you they swoop in and invade something and start a battle (this espeically sucks when they are your vineships...). You can buy them back but it's too late for whatever just got attacked.

To be honest I think this system simulates pirate relations pretty well, but like many things "Endless" the game doesn't communicate the mechanics to the player, so it comes across as unfair or arbitrary. Maybe they had a message but canned it to reduce spam (since it can happen multiple times in one round).

Indeed, when I try to target a system putting a mark on it, the other faction (for example, the Unfallen) swiftly buys them out.
