There is no point in disabling the academy and playing with Awakening dlc on. The two things that are added are Nakalim and Academy, with Nakalim's gameplay feature being tied to said Academy. If you want to play against Nakalim but want to turn of the Academy, well, you can't as Nakalim need Academy.

Academy cannot be modded out as it is literally hardcoded into Awakening, the only way is to turn off the dlc altogether and play without having access to Nakalim or the minor faction that comes with it (whose assimilation bonus is also tied to Academy).

That'S sad, cause the DLC looks interesting, but after all I saw, they destroyed the Academy so hard, it just rules the whole game without even needing to try. :/
