ideas for custom nation building.

while this would go in the ideas thread, that section is closed as of this topic and i dont know when it will open, if it will open again, so i have to place this in the general thread.


after playing around with the custom nations, i find it a but underwhelming. while not the weakest link of the game, i can see some ideas i have that might be implemented.


1: ability to use minor species as primary species. This is something i would love to see in game, being able to play as the yussho, tikanen, kalgeros, or the pulsos, , it would definitely help the replayability of the game.


2: more ship styles/designs. more styles of ships would complement the first idea very well, like what would the ships of the sefaloros would look like, maybe even bring back es1 ship styles and bring back the es1 hissho by combining the yussho with the es1 hissho ships, or the pilgrims and sowers.


3: starting hero based on starting ideology. This is something that actually bugs me a bit in game, whenever i start with a custom nation, it feels a bit weird to start with a military hero when the custom nation is pacifist or ecologist. Having a custom nation that starts with a hero of its species of the corrosponding ideology may help. for example, if a custom nation is a hissho faction that is industrialist, it starts with senya snowridge, if its scientific, its starts with tsuyu saltcliff. But if it does not have a hero that has its starting ideology, it can pick either the default hero or a random hero of the same species, like a pacifist hissho nation will be giving either a random hissho hero or the default hero of kogewa brightblade.


again, i would place this in the ideas section but that section is closed and i have no idea where else to place this, but i think these ideas would make custom nations more interesting and overall add to the replayability to the game.

You're not alone in thinking ES2's custom faction editor needs some love.  Your third idea makes particularly good sense, especially given that there's probably a hero for just about every combination of class, species and ideology out there already.

that would be correct for most of the starting major factions, but for factions like the es2 hissho, they have only 4 hero's and their yussho brothers only have 1, but adding hero's for those 2 may be a bit easier, just grab hissho hero's from es1, and update them for use in es2, same can be said for the pilgrims, sowers, and harmony, the other minor factions however, may need brand new hero's unfortunately.
