With how The Endless Franchise handles its canonicity, not only does it allow allot of replayability but also allows the game to be taken to multiple genres as seen in love thyself and dungeon of the endless. But there are bigger genres for it to be taken too. Here is a few I think would work.

RTS: This Genre would work for expanding upon the ground aspect of the ES2 Factions, as ground battles took a backseat in ES2. RTS games would allow us to explore that aspect of the Endless Franchise, say play as the Hissho, and build a base while fending off Sophon walkers and destroying a Vodyani base as well. RTS would be very good for ground battle gameplay.

Tabletop: This Genre would work very well with the space battles of ES2, infact many of the mechanics for space battles in the game feel like they were made for tabletop. It could be a reskin of Star Wars Armada, you have hero cards, upgrades, attack ranges and more already in ES2. Tabletop would be very good with Space Battles.

Simulation/roleplay: With the way the Endless Franchise works, a X4 style game would be perfect for the Franchise. Imagine, you start on Auriga, and decide to save one of the factions and all their heroes, Say the Drakken and their 7 heroes. You can then go around and make your impact on the galaxy, say destroy the Sophons, Make the Drakken and Hissho allies, stop the academy, Prop the Hissho up for galactic supremacy and more. As you do this you can recruit Heroes from the race you saved as well as those from ES2 say Namkang and Senya Snowridge and more. They would help you in your journeys from leading fleets to governing your stations or even planets and maybe if you get a high enough relation, even be able to romance a number of them. The Simulation/Roleplay style for me just fits so well with the Endless Franchise.
