My suggestions to Amplitude for what its worth :-)

Here are my suggestions to Amplitude after playing the game a bit:


1. I would like to see the control zones of empires only updated when you move a ship into them so there is a certain 'fog of war' we shouldnt be able to see what is going on on the other side of the galaxy unless we have eyes there.


2. I like the battles but I need more feedback on what is happening, which ships are getting damaged and why/how. The cameras need improving to show actions better. I would like something to do during the battles the last game at least had cards to watch which was more interesting. Needs some user interaction somehow.


3. No tax rate configuration - so dust is impossible to control and you get backrupt too easily, also no affect on happiness. Assume this is in the works though.


4. More things to do early on when the game is slow because you are creating colonies and have no dust and few ships.


5. I wish some of the research was hidden and gradually revealed - no need to see other eras for a start. But also some techs should open up other areas for research - like Hyperium should open up new Hyperium-based weapon and defence categories to research, same for the other major resources you discover. Research should be dynamic!


6. We need support for 4:3 screens I use 1280x1024 res and the planet screen has the last planet cut off the screen completely when four or more planets are shown. And if the planets are large the last planet is right off the screen and cant be seen. Should be able to pan this screen at the very least.


7. Need decent economics screen where you can see the ongoing costs of buildings, heroes, ships etc and sell them of need be.


8. The music is fantastic!


9. Don't know if its a bug but I tried to complete the Sophon quest by garrisons two fighting ships and it didnt seem to satisfy the quest at all. Dont know why. Cant tell if it was because one of the ships was an 'explorer' but none of the ship types say they are 'fighting ships' so I cant tell what I am supposed to do.


10. I don't like the hero new trait explanations for wit and labour etc they dont really explain clearly what these upgrades actually do - I just want to know if each trait will improve dust, manufacturing, research, food, influence etc but the explanations in the traits uses other terms that arent very descriptive.

Regarding point 9 this isnt a bug after all - I think I've just realised that only some ships are classed as 'fighting ships' and are shown with a sword whereas my present ships are exploration ships, so thats why that quest isnt completing yet. I've still got to research fighting ships and then place two of those in the required system to complete the quest.


Another query though which could be a bug is the exploration rating of ships. Several anomalies are saying they require an exploration rating of 3 and yet according to the stats my present fleet has an exploration rating of 5 and one of my ships on its own has a 3. So I dont understand why I cant get those anomalies. So yeah this could be a bug I will mention this in the bug forum.
