I think it'd add a lot of flavor to the world if the political parties had names based on the major faction that you were playing as. The Vodyani militarist faction would probably be distinct from the Sophon one. 

Alternatively, they could have a name selected from a pool, which could lead to fun narratives/personal stories/superstitions; "The Starseeker party is always bad news for me" or something like that.
