I would like to know the reason for that... I want to play with the Sophons. The Scientists are in power... until the first or second election. Afterwards? Pacifists.... why? because of minor faction on the HOMEplanet...

I just don't think it should be that way... there isn't really a reason given why they are there...or at least give me a way to kill them off..... (that sounds a bit wrong... COMMIT GENOCIDE BECAUSE THEY WANT TO START A PARTY!!!1!!! .... sound wrong.... sry )

I enjoy playing the Vodyani so much as I can pretty much control WHO and WHICH parties are standing for election...

That is one of my biggest complaints so far.

I think the migration system was bugged / not fully implemented which results in things like this happening.

Yeah it is annoying and a known 'issue' that the Sophons are stuck with this Minor Faction at start. As someone who has only played Sophons so far. I have found that the first election does not matter. And the 'TAX' act the Pacifists impose actually helps with Dust production early on, just be sure if you have the influence, to vote in the first Science law you can (the probe one). I beat them by the second election every time.

But note that you can 'tie' and or beat them if you ZERG rush Science tech, and quickly Colonize another system that has a planet with high science output. Creating more Sophon 'representatives'. AND either fund the Scientist or intimate the opponents.

All current factions except Vodyani get minor faction populations to begin with. The difference is the government type. That is Democracy is what gives some very counter intuitive, likely bugged results.

I think the current "always start with a minor faction pop on homeword" is just an occurence that in the final game will be random, but in EA is fixed, so to force players to have more pop variety and an early chance to switch from the standard racial polital party early on, for game testing reasons. At last, I hope so...

I would like it if you at least started iwth that minor faction "discovered" though (or at least some idea where their homeworld is)

I'd prefer I had the option to choose if I want a Minor Race with my starting pop.

Being able to choose which MR to start with would also be nice.

I hope there'll be a feature to control what kind of population you get in the future. Diversity is all good and bla bla, but I'd really love to see even something to kill off certain populations on your own planets. For example, it makes lore-wise absolutely no sense for letting any craver population survive if you managed to capture one of their systems. They're basically always hostile and the only way to solve this is to nuke them.

Ah yes everybody loves genocide. But maybe the Cravers only had a bad upbringing and can be integrated with love, nurture and some herbal tea? At least that is what old nanny says and we all know old nanny is always right.

I think love, and herbal tea will certainly help.... maybe there are mixed kindergartens, where little carver kids learn how to socialize? Just imagine chibi carvers running around....  ^^

But yea I hope the whole minor faction on the home planet will be changed, but of course migration should still be possible or even be commonplace to a certain extend.. nobody wants to live on a Carver planet...

Migration

More than just being able to be moved across planets within a system, the population is now also able to move across systems and even across players thanks to two kinds of migration movements.

The first one is a controlled and internal population movement based around building spatioport your systems: you will be able to move their populations across the system you have built a spatioport in.

The second one is a external population movement with a control that is more indirect, that allow for "pacific wars" to take place: by making your systems more attractive than your neighbors', you can "steal" population from them, thus creating an "attractiveness competition" between empires.

From The GDD on Population. There will be a controlled way to distribute populations between systems.

Spatioport is the french word for Spaceport I think ;)

Speaking of losing elections to Pacifists.

When I do so, I lose access to tier 2 techs, and even though I had already researched one, it later rescinded that tech, and its ticker for additional research needed to "re-learn" it is going up.

Anybody know if that is an intentional mechanic?  That once you lose access to tier 2, you also lose those techs you already researched in that tier?

The minor faction is intended to be present on your home planet from game start iirc. I'll try to get confirmation on the subject.

Losing technologies as you lose elections is probably unintended, I passed it on for you.
