Vodyani - Arks, make them upgradeable like Heroes rather than ships

Yes, you can change the template and then retrofit a given Ark. But once you have more than one, it gets complicated, and you basically have to work backwards from the results to eyeball what it does. Not to mention if you want to change Ark designs as the game goes on. For instance, I might focus heavily on industry early to build improvement, but shift later to dust or science.

You can do it, but presuming that this sort of retrofitting based on your immediate needs is an intended function (which I have no reason to believe it is not), the current system seems unreasonable. You don't just spam a bunch of Arks, so there really isn't a reason to have a template. They function much more like Heroes, and so it makes sense if they had a similar interface, i.e. the retrofit button brings up the customization screen for that given Ark and you make changes and then confirm/pay for them.

I like your idea and would support it, but it doesn't seem necessary, currently. Yes, it is a bore to create entire new ship classes whenever you want to modify yield focus for an Ark. Even so, the system works, and it might not be reasonable to try to convince Amplitude to make a change like you're suggesting for that reason alone.

Though if they were to extrapolate from your suggestion to make Arks 'more like heroes' by giving them skills, etc... that'd be cool. You could build entire narratives around the exploits of an Ark over the course of the game as it levels up, which seems like a game development win to me. ( /end pipe dream)

Arks have individual names, they are basically like heroes already. This idea is just combining two existing game functions, seems like most of the hard work is already done.

excellent idea. i like that the modules let you customize your ark, but there's numerous design flaws with it. A hero-like approach would be rad.

I think that good system (IMO) would be this. You can design more than one Ark template and then update different Ark's to suit their systems needs and keep the Ark updates in sub menu so it would not clutter the ship design panel.

I am still not sure about making them like heroes though. But i like some of that idea.

What about customizing Arks like heroes and saving a template?)

That would work out too along with Ark configurations (like it is now) :)

It's nice to have so different factions like Vodyani which have really different gameplay styles.

One thing that is missing and would be very helpful is to see what your current Arc (or any other ship) is currently equipped with.

Once you get more ships / versions or get a ship from a mission I find it very annoying that you cannot view what is the ships current module configuration.

Is it by mistake or design, but I find it frustrating that I cannot upgrade a ship acquired through a quest. Super epic ships with their own history are recycled because my stupid engineers cannot replace a gun.

Yeah, that would be a great help. At the very least just save the old templates, let you go back and look at old versions of templates (add a couple of buttons to scroll forward/backward on the very designs applied to the given template).
