Cravers and disapproval

Hi.

I've wanted to play as cravers but I've been having such trouble playing them. Each time an election happens, I look to see what the most popular faction is, and I support them. I try to go for religious as that has the mass happiness law, but if I have 90% approval for millitarists, why do I get -50 to happiness because of election results?

It means when playing against the AI (say just me and one other opponent) I have half the points they do.

Has anyone found a successful strategy for dealing with craver approval? I'm including a link to a steam discussion on it where they've pointed out the same issues, saying it's not just a problem with minor factions (I have systems that are exclusively craver in pop, but still have negative modifiers)

Currently there's no way to play the Cravers "well" (Short of using a Tiny Galaxy).

Unfortunately, what you tried to do is the only way to use them on any decently-sized game. The Religious have a law that sets all Happiness to Content. You can also try Razing the system they're in, I haven't had a chance to play since the update. For whatever it's worth, Amplitude are aware of the problems with the Cravers (And by extension, Dictatorships).

I played around with the advanced actions to influence the elections (Round-UP and Propaganda). With round-up I was able to push the overall approval hit to -5. In some systems I also got an +10 approval bonus. YOu certainly have to use the better influence options. But it would still help if the Cravers would actually eat other pops.

Nah, cravers are easy now.

1) Hold your ships in position and catch the ancient craver ship

2) First elections, official support Religious party

3) Build Sychronous Hive (you need to gather materials, easy with some quests and exploration)

4) Get the hero, he will be religious

5) Next elections, official support Religious party, got the Senate leader to switch Senate to 100% religious

6) Push to Era2 to unlock new laws

7) Pick "Mass Happiness", everything becomes Content

8) Now you can ignore political volatility and settle/conquer anything you want without giving a crap about happiness, enjoy your Cravers

That might be easy, but it's still needlessly constricting is the issue. It sucks having to play a super, super specific way just to use a race.

Hello everyone

As previously stated in this thread by Romeo, we are indeed aware that Dictatorships and Cravers need a bunch of rework, balancing and maybe even some special exceptions  (Cravers don't really function the same way the other race do, lore-wise and such... e.g. for the Truce mechanic, we are definitely considering a special case of Cravers and/or militarist governments)

The "Raze"/"Pillage" mechanics were added, making it easier to avoid massive over-colonization penalties while constantly moving to undepleted planets (that and the fact planets are easier to colonize than before)

Cravers and the game in general are going to become gradually more balanced overall, all the way up to release

Thank you for your patience!
