Control over immigration?

Can we please get some control over immigration? If I am at war with the cravers then it  makes no sense for them to just walk into my empire ans start voting. Maybe allow us to move all the populations that we don't like to a system and make it independent? Or kill them off for unhappiness? Allow us to close our borders to immigration and allow us to choose which pop we get when we have enough food.

Migration should only work inside your empire's borders IMHO, unless on a treaty.

Exactly. And even in my own empire I should have some control.

Migration should be separated from classical population growth.

The systems have not to be linked to food production. It can be base on happiness differences for example ...

And, of course, you have to be able to control it in some way. (more control in a dictatorship than in a democracy i guess ?)

But, in my opinion, the current system is just wrong.

I had that very exact problem with my recent playthrough.

Killing them off (as mentioned above) for unhappiness sounds like a valid mechanic, but implementing it lore-wise would be interesting to say the least.

It'd make sense. The Cravers are literal killing machines, killing them would basically be a "defend yourself from invasion" act.

Of course, the easier solution to lore is to have individual Craver populations not deplete planets.

Cravers eat humans so why would humans want them on their planet?

Though I'd agree on just killing those bugs... (starship troopers reference... :D) if you look at some artworks, there are cravers which are acting with other races. So I think the devs have in mind that the cravers might indeed be able to cooperate in foreign empires. (after some re-education... :D)

However, if the devs really intend this: Cravers should not deplete planets if they are in a foreign empire and not eat other pops; instead maybe have other traits making them as useful as other pop types. (e.g. let them have +5 manpower or +1 industry)

Yeah, the whole eating of planets things should be a function of playing the craver empire, not having craver populations on their own.

Can this be decided as an event?

It might be difficult to implement technically, but this sort of thing would make a great choice for the player. Some players are builders and they would want nothing to do with a race that naturally degrades the planets over time (I'm one of these players). Forcing that gameplay mechanic on them seems like a bad side effect of having the great population system introduced in this game.

So can the player have an event that asks what they want to do with the growing population? It might actually be a really interesting choice. Would the pacifists save the planet or impose their will on the craver population? Industrialists take the FIDS boost or be thinking long-term growth?

I like this too ^ but why not give them really great bonuses to compensate for the planet-eating? Tying into events, would a militaristic population want the extra manpower, or have them eradicated completely to save the planet?

You know, it would be most fitting if only the "Slavers" penalty took effect when the Cravers are inside another faction's Empire.

This way, they hinder the opposing side with a -5%  AND eat some of them here and there decreasing their growth.

So all in all, I also object to the Craver Depletion of the planet in a Foreign Empire, as it seems to me a rather complex process, or something that should be most efficiently organized by their Bishops.
