Make moons more intersting! (Bring back temples)

Is it me or are moons in Endless Space 2 kinda underwhelming compared to Endless Space 1? They seem to be pretty rare and if you explore them it's often nothing or not something special.
I remember in Endless Space 1 you could find ancient temples with more interesting boni. Please bring them back or make moons more common/interesting. In most cases it doesn't seem worth it to get this tech instead of another more useful tech. Also exploring moons should feel more rewarding.

Yeah that'd be cool, and I wish I could terraform moons to provide more bonuses or population space. Or have moons that aren't just ghastly, barren rocks

Exactly on the day I made this suggestion thread a mod called "Endless Moons" appeared in the Steam library. I need to check that out.

I had an idea related to this matter at one point.

Short version is that if Moons should be important for exploration, they should have regenerating Curiosities of ever-increasing risk and reward so that players can still use all of their Exploration abilities into the late game, zipping around enemy systems performing daring raids like a spaceborne Indiana Jones figure. Essentially make them bottomless Temples of Doom that get more difficult with each "floor" of the moon.


Which would also be an excellent setup for an Auriga anomaly tied to Dungeon of the Endless.

What an interesting idea. I think that the easy way out to do something like this using the current system is to have multiple stage quests that spawn quest curiosities on planets with moons, but there might be a way to give moons 'regenerating' curiosities... a special type of moon anomaly, perhaps?

I would think that it would just be an inherent trait of Moons, and each one would have a Curiosity that once searched, comes back after so many turns.


Maybe instead of disappearing when searched, it becomes grayed out with a turn counter on it, and gets replaced by a new curiosity when it resets the counter.


And obviously there'd need to be a growing cost for searching, aside from probes or industry.
