I love having a list of my population, but figureing out where they are is difficult.  If on the pop screen I could see at a glance where say, my Bhaghba went, or my saved Horatio are, that would be a great timesaver and a help.  This is kind of a idea, but curious I may be missing something there.

yea i agree, the pop screen is realy hiden from the player. but i dont think it's realy need any shortcat. it's not realy a main importand Feature.

but how about when you double click on any population, it's would open the pop screen, that would be nice :D

To be able to quickly find which planets have a certain population? Yes, that would be nice.

A few others:

- Highlight Systems in System Management and Spaceport screens based on chosen Population, so we can immediately select unhighlighted systems to diversify

- Highlight Luxuries in Marketplace if we have their Populations/Provide an "Organize by Population Preference" column for Luxuries

- List number of stocks needed to Diversify a pop on their Luxuries Marketplace tab (EL did something similar, listing the number of required stocks for any given Luxury when moused over)

In general, a lot more information needs to be crammed into certain very common mouseovers.

I don't think you're talking about quite the same thing as the rest of the thread, but you might be interested to know that if you click on one of the population icons next to the system population growth bar, it will take you to the empire populations screen.

Only slightly related, but I'd love to see the Economy & Development screen actually show you your income for each luxury without having to mouse over them. It would be useful to help identify which resources are important and which are not at a glance, saving time when trying to make gameplay choices on the galaxy map.
