While providing everyone with sufficient time for elections is vital, maybe a minute countdown would help over ability to lock the game and force a reload.
Scenario:

Election screen pops up (turn 20 or whatever interval you get) and all players except for one who is afk choose their election action.

AFK player does not choose his or her election action because... AFK!

Result - game is stuck on turn 40 because one player did not resolve elections.

This does not always have to be intentional, but it is a mechanic that can forcibly stuck the game.

This is a much needed feature, of about 30 seconds max. There are people who go AFK without thinking about when the next election is and it can bring the game to a halt until they're back. I imagine it's even worse in public lobbies.

This minor oversight has me taking the long way towards Endless Gamer. Only another few thousand turns before I can join the modding community. So excited!

Yes please. There have been accounts where players with a bad start or find themselves in a losing situation purposfully afk the election to stall and kill the game for the others involved. A default no action election timer woukd be great, thirty seconds. Heck even make it optional so in single player people are not effected.

Happened to me yesterday in MP....

A guy forgot about the vote and went away. He went back after 5 minutes but it happens on purpose sometimes....
