Riftborn population on sterile planets

Hi.
Before playing them, I really liked the idea of the reverse terraforming on the Riftborn, but as it is, there is strictly no reason to ever do it, since the loss of max pop is absolutely not worth it.
Surely there could be a lot of different ways to fix that, and it seems like a fairly important issue to me.
I was thinking that a simple fix would be to give them a special version of Eco Habitats providing +2 pop per sterile planet instead of +1. It wouldn't be a huge change, but it would make terraforming to the first sterile stage less of a punishment.

Woa, thanks for the info. i din't knew that if i terraformed planets to different "fertility" types it loses max population.

I always thought that max pop depended on the size of the planet, instead of its planet type. Am i right?

I saw so many unique planets whit only one pop in "tiny" size, but none yet whit that number of population on huge size. It seems like there is a "random chance" of checking how much pop the planet will have at max, depending on its planet size. i think huge planets are something between.... 7-8-9, tiny between 1-2-3 and medium between 2-3-4 and so on... im not sure of this data, but that's how i see the game, right?

Maybe you lost your extra population because the RNG of this "math factor" gone bad?

When terraforming to more fertile planets, if you hover over the options, a lot of them will show an increase in max population. The max population of the planet is a mix of size and climate.

Meanwhile, for the Riftborn, since they terraform to sterile, their max pop decreases very badly. Since their pop bonuses to industry, dust and science are one of their main strengths, it's a huge waste. I'd much rather terraform to fertile even with the Riftborn. So yeah, I think a little fix is in order.

That is incorrect. Planet population is based on both size and type, with population being a range from Tiny to Huge for each specific planet type. For example Desert can have 34567 slots depending on size.

Problem is that Riftborn have very good bonuse per pop (+5 Industry/Dust/Science) as it is so to balance that you introduce the fact that on large planets you have less happiness that you would on smaller sterile ones.

A planet full of Riftborn has more production that filled with any other population (even Vodyani).

On top of that they don't care about food production so I am ok with them having less happiness on fertile planets than other population.

Being corrected is not a personal attack.
