Hello. recently i've posted a idea in games2gether called Upgradable Battle Cards.
the grand purpose of this idea is, that in the current battle card system, only a very few battle cards are usefull in most situations because they have "flat stat bonueses" and other battle cards are intended to work on.... Specific circumstances. but the problem is: those circumstances rarely happen in game, and if they happen, it is more viable in almost all times to simply use a generic flat bonus card (like 25% extra xp, 75% extra shield, or 55% extra armor) because, those 3 battle cards only, are simply so usefull that nearly nothing in the whole game can be so strong like these. the problem is:
The initial battle cards are too strong whilst the researchble cards, most of them, doesn't even compare to it.
So, in order to solve this issue, and make all battle cards balanced in a single way, i decided to make this idea, of Upgradable battle cards. where each tech stage features a upgradable version of the previous battle card, or something like that.
But yet, i still have to think in some battle card concepts to add in my idea, as it is not complete yet. So that is why im asking your help to either post in this thread, or in my idea itself, new ideas of different types of battle cards that could help to improve the game in its strategical concept.
these battle card could be:
Researchble by curiosities, im which im planning about 5 new battle cards or replace "some" battle cards acquired by curiosities (although i dont know all battle cards acquired by curiosities yet)
Researchble trough technology stages, in which im planning one for each, or in the event more unique battle cards come by, we could also add a extra unique battle card that features , maybe, a upgradable concept researchble in different technogies stages above, or a standlone version that can prove effective even whiteout upgrades.
Omg, you start to make me dreaming of upgradeable battle cards, having 2 to 3 slots for to put strategic and/or luxury ressources in - for to equip additional battle card boosts. But... I'm nearly sure, it's unrealistic programming wise... *sigh*
I see what you're getting at with this idea, but I'm not sure if having another layer of upgrades is really what we need. The game is already quite ganular and complex; I'd rather just see more viable choices than have to go through more upgrade treadmills to make terrible choices less terrible. I do agree that the basic cards are just so good in so many situations that other cards get ignored, but that to me suggests three simple things:
1: the opener cards are just too bloody good for their own good.
2: the other cards just suck.
3: The other cards were an afterthought and not very well designed.
The solution to all three problems is simply to start over. Design cards from scratch that are simpler to use, not quite as situational and that affect the battle in different ways than just buffing hull or shields--or giving you free resources for winning. Those cards in particular are kind of dumb to me, especially when we've already got support modules that can do the same thing. "Tactics" cards should be about WINNING the battle, not getting fatter off one you've already won. That's just insult to injury for the losing player, especially when losing a fleet is already costly enough.
I agree whit you, Daynen. These three points you listed are in my idea, and are the primary points i wanted to remake the battle card system by implementing Upgradable Battle cards
But i can't seem to understand why you did not liked the part of upgrading my battle cards, and also you have not explained in which point we should remake the current battle card system. Remake from, and to what? To battle cards that increases your stats? To battle cards that gives more winning % chances? to battle cards that buffs your resources when you lose? You need a point of reference in order to propose a complete remake on the battle card system. And my point of reference is Upgradable Battle Cards. And yours, what is it? :)
