Alliance Voting?

Been playing a game on and off for the past couple days, and as usual the Unfallen are uber aggressive jerkstores.  Several turns back I finally got tired of their shenanigans, cranked out four large fleets, and began pruning their vines.  One turn away from invading their last planet and I'm hit by a Truce with them via my Alliance, without any notice or option to oppose.  Heh, now this is, to phrase it midly, intensly frustrating.

I wasn't able to play ES2 much in EA, but I've heard that within an Alliance there used to be an ability to vote for things like going to War, accepting a Truce, etc.  If so, I'm curious why said ability was removed.  Will something like it be added in the future?  Obviously there should be some sort of Influence cost associated with those type of actions, but a member faction having a say in the actions of its Alliance seems like an incredibly useful and appropriate ability.

Now granted, I haven't been doing a ton of Diplomacy in these recent games, and it's entirely possible I've just missed something.  If so, please feel free to enlighten me.  Thanks much.

You're completely right about Alliance voting not being present in-game; as for Alliance voting being present during EA and subsequently removed, I can't precisely remember if it was present or as to why it was removed, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that there may have been some bugs associated with it.

I remember seeing "I did not agree to this" as an option whenever a truce happens. When it does get forced on me though, since the truce was signed by someone else, I can immediately enter war again with enough influence points on my own in the diplomacy screen. Basically restart the war again.

This is just a guess, but generally the AI doesn't ask for truces unless it thinks it's losing. I've tried to ask for truces against empires that are very clearly dying on their last system, and they refuse. They might have massive fleets elsewhere fighting on another front while I'm invading all their systems with little to no resistance, which probably makes them count this particular war with me as "0 fleet damage taken, 0 fleet damage dealt", which to them logically means is an equal stalemate.

Personally I like running an imperial style of play. When my fleets need to regroup and a truce is forced on me, I mass my fleets around the border and wait for the timer to tick down. Then I give the empire a choice: join the alliance, or be consumed. >:)

Hi,

Alliance voting was considered during EA indeed but the technical complexities (considering the already implemented systems) forced us to use a different system. We used to have "vetos" against individual players for members of an alliance, maybe this is what you remember?

In any case, we're aware of this problem and the issue has been logged in our tracker.

Best,

Yea Alliances are kinda broken at the moment. You have no control over what wars or truce deals your alliance members make. Ofcourse you can re-declare your war but it's a huge drain on influence.

I just started playing this game. Any news on this topic? Also, is there a way to ask/make a member of your alliance leave it? Or a member of another allince leave theirs and join yours? Thanks.

AFAIK The stance hasn't cvhanged. Alliances are unlikely to get significant changes in the near future. As for kicking or moving between alliances there's no mechanic as far as I know.

Sad thing - there are already add-ons/DLCs  out but such basic stuff isn't available yet. Alliances need an overhaul! Please devs, address these spots in future updates!!!

Absolutely. I'm just playing my first game and this was one of the things that was blatantly sticking out, the diplomacy in general. I have 20ish systems, the enemy AI is left with 1-2, loosing badly, and offering truce if I give them all my cash :)) Are you serious ?!? Also, trying to trade for like 20-30 luxres, and they (friends and allies mind you) are asking for 2-3 tier 3 techs... Absolutely stupid. Plus the aforementioned alliance issues...

I don't know much about fixing up games but looking around this forum I saw the voting for what feature to be added in an upcomig update - in-game clock, or battle tactics summary, or implementing some shortcut. I mean all three of course, is it that hard?? :) Maybe it is, as I said I have no idea of the business of making and maintaining games. But if out of those 3 options only 1 could be done, then forget about an alliance overhaul :)
